Relocation/Move Management

Relocation/Move Management

The most important aspect of a company's relocation is the planning that occurs well before any item is moved. Lincoln Office can help create the move plan and coordinate everyone involved.

Once the move plan is in place, executing and managing the move requires professionals who understand the details, processes and management of a successful relocation. From managing movers and other contractors to supporting end users, the Lincoln Office team understands what it takes to get your employees back to work as quickly as possible.

Some basic guidelines for handling an office move:

Plan

Establish moving dates, the movers' schedule, who moves when, develop a labeling system, review Planning a Move planner on this website.

Move Team

Ask a group of employees to help with the move. The team can communicate to employees, keep employees on task to pack workstations and group files. On Moving Day have the team wear t-shirts or pins so employees know they are people "in the know."

Communicate

Explain the who, what, why, when and where to emoplyees. Give employees guidelines on packing up their workstations: review company policy on records retention and disposition; how to label boxes; pack a "Nuts & Bolts" box with important documents, paper, pens, power cords, etc.; and remind employees to try to schedule a little time each day to pack and purge.

Enthusiasm

Post the timeline throughout the office, create posters with the moving day information.

Celebrate!

Have a party after the move so everyone has an opportunity to tour their new workspace.
